Ibanez Paul Stanley PS10

More guitars I like from bands I don’t.  KISS was never my thing, and I never thought I’d own a Paul Stanley signature guitar after purposely avoiding anything KISS forever…but this guitar is different.

This was my late friend Chris’ first good guitar.  He bought it new in 1979 before he could drive – I know this because his brother recalled the story of them walking home with it from the local music store.  Chris was a great custodian and unlike the fate of many of our first guitars, he didn’t try to improve it with Krylon, a drill, or a chisel.  She remains factory original and in excellent condition.  Chris also kept all the old Ibanez catalogs from 1979 and all the original paperwork with this guitar, so it’s a real trip down memory lane when you view the whole package.

Initially this guitar was going to be retained by Chris’ family but after some time with me they decided that it would be best preserved here, so here she will stay.  I was able to clean and set her up this week and I have to admit that Paul Stanley was on to something – this is a great guitar.  Sounds like a Les Paul, plays like a BC Rich, and has the colors John Sykes preferred.  It sounds so good I had to pull the pickups out to make sure they weren’t something wild – nope, factory original Ibanez.  If you’re a KISS fan and a guitar player, how do you not own one of these?
