The 1988 Ibanez Jem Floral was a guitar I absolutely hated the look of when they first came out. I remember seeing one at Bateman Music in Houston and laughing at it. I was 18. Well, now I’m way past 18 and think these are some of the coolest Jems ever, and I’ve turned into a snob who likes certain fabric placement better than others when I chase old Florals.
This one came from my friend Chris’ collection, and we’d been talking about doing the deal for a while but just never did. Timing is everything and she arrived with an equally mint case, along with the original paperwork. There is next to no wear on this guitar – no fade, no mods, no dings, no nothing. She’s quite the specimen. I have a couple other old Florals but I think this one is the cleanest.
