I remember when these came out back in 1990. I scoffed at the idea of 7 strings on a guitar with a neck as wide as a boat oar, and dismissed them as a fad soon to be forgotten. Boy was I wrong! I’ve spent the better part of 4 years finding choice examples of the older Ibanez Universe models for my collection because they are an important part of rock guitar history. This guitar is an extremely rare find. Because these play so well, most of them were played to hell over the years. This one was was reportedly given to an endorsee in 1990 who dismissed it (like I did) as a fad and it remained under his bed until 2011. It remains in new condition with all documentation.
