This guitar was a pain in the ass to land. First it popped up on the old Jackson/Charvel forum – some collector found it and I tried to get it from him – no luck. Maybe 15 years later I see it on Reverb and was on the phone with the music store who now owned it when someone bought it off Reverb. Turns out that was JB, a friend of mine on the west coast with a large collection of Jacksons. About 5 years later, this scumbag named Steve Witt (if you are about to deal with him, keep reading) who said he just did a deal with JB to get the EVH Rhoads, but if I wanted it I could Venmo him a couple grand to hold it then pay for the rest of it once I’ve inspected it. That’s a little weird, but I knew Steve and we had some good dealings before so I Venmo’d him the money.
Turns out Steve was lying, the guitar was sitting safely at JB’s, and I’d just been scammed by a friend. Local law enforcement didn’t like this and I guess after a visit or two Steve started paying me back. Once JB got wind of this nonsense he offered me the EVH Rhoads at a good price for what it is (thanks again JB). So an original floyded, original graphic San Dimas Rhoads. Allegedly built to lure EVH away from Kramer but we know that didn’t happen.
