1987 PRS Standard

Not the flashiest guitar I own but if you happen to have an under-the-bed early PRS, hit me up.  How’s that for an endorsement of the quality in these early builds?

Now granted I don’t own only four guitars due to my discriminating tastes – I like a lot of examples within a limited number of brands, and PRS was never included in that group.  That was a mistake.  While I’m still not a fan of the newer builds (new being year 2000 and newer), these late 80’s guitars are spectacular.  I don’t have many but what I do have has impressed me, and as a collector that doesn’t welcome new brands, I think that says something.

This one is, I guess, a common 1987 – serial number in the 3000’s – actually the newest “old” one I have, but damn if this guitar isn’t on par with the best playing and sounding guitars I own.  Had my friend Aldo over before the Danzig show last weekend and he would agree, and he’s played a lot of my stuff.  The guitar sat for a good 10 years and all I needed to do was change the strings and shine the frets, which speaks to the quality in these builds.  I’m sold, but finding more will be a little bit challenging since I’m really not connected in the PRS circles.
